York

What to do in York

Just 22 miles from Kipling House Barn, the historic minster city of York is famous for its heritage, architecture, shopping, galleries and museums.

Boasting over 30 attractions in less than one square mile, York has something for everyone, from history buffs and lovers of architecture to horse-racing fans and foodies.

You can explore the city that is characterised by cobbled streets and surrounded by ancient Roman walls on foot, on a sightseeing bus or by taking a guided river trip along the Ouse that flows through the heart the city.

York is renowned for its many museums and for its live entertainment that spans opera, dance, comedy, music, drama and panto.

Although it’s Yorkshire’s largest city, York is blessed with lots of parks and gardens, The Museum Gardens, with its botanical plants, Dean’s Park at the foot of the majestic York Minster and Rowntree Park whose playgrounds and cosy Reading Café are popular with York residents and visitors alike.
