About Kipling House Barn

Situated high on the Yorkshire Wolds with commanding views towards the River Humber, Kipling House Barn is just a couple of miles away from the finish of the iconic Kiplingcotes Derby, believed to be the oldest annual horse race in the English sporting calendar. We’re surrounded by farmland and mature woodland that provides valuable habitat for bats, buzzards, red kites, hares and hedgehogs.

Today the Barn is managed by Sarah and Becky, a mother-daughter team.

The farm’s old granary has long since been redundant, but the building was too beautiful to be lying idle, so in 2016 we decided to start the journey to convert it into a spacious, luxury self-catering holiday let for large groups. Thanks to the tireless work by talented local craftsmen, the barn has been lovingly and sympathetically restored. Retaining all of the charm of original features including solid oak beams and vaulted ceilings.

Careful consideration went into the design of the Barn, which offers eight generously sized rooms, all with ensuites, including a super-size family room and three ground floor rooms incorporating an accessible room with wet-room ensuite for less mobile visitors.

We look forward to welcoming you to the hidden gem that is the Yorkshire Wolds and to helping you to plan your days, whether you’re walking on the Wolds, shopping in the historic town of York, taking in the horseracing in Beverley or exploring Hull’s fishing heritage.
