Celebrating Christmas at Kipling House Barn

Every year from around mid-November we get busy decorating the Barn for Christmas!

It really is a magical time of year, and as the Barn often hosts celebration groups of family and friends, we think it’s important to make our Christmas Season as festive as possible. We decorate the main ground floor living area with a large false Christmas Tree adorned with warm lights, dried orange slices, faux berries and pinecones to stay in-keeping with our rural location. A few elves are dotted around the Barn; we have a tasteful wooden wall hanging in the kitchen and; a wicker reindeer greets you at the entrance along with faux garlands wrapping around the stair bannisters. Unfortunately, we cannot have a real tree inside the Barn as the floor is heated and it would become dehydrated VERY quickly! This underfloor heating means the Barn stays a very cosy warm temperature all day and night, however if you want a bit of ambience please feel free to light our alluring log-burner.

On the first floor there are a few ornaments around the cupboard units on the landing, and then the living area has fairy-lights around the beams and a small Christmas Tree on the console table. Festive flowers are provided and a wreath to the front door. We also have two light-up reindeer placed on the grass and a real potted Christmas Tree with colourful lights to greet you on arrival.

There is always a collection of activities for all the family in East Yorkshire including; the Beverley Christmas Market, live Christmas productions at the East Riding Theatre and Hull Truck Theatre, Carols by candlelight at the Beverley Minster, Christmas Tree Festivals at the Beverley Minster and a number of Santa’s Grottos and Christmas Trails at the many Halls dotted around the Yorkshire Wolds. We are also approximately 35 minutes from York for the larger Christmas Markets and a few more shops – although we may be biased but we think Beverley has everything you need!
